American Girl #18inchDolls Mix & Match Collection: Pretty City Shoes (2018) #ToyReviews! #ToyDesign

PRODUCT: American Girl® Pretty City Shoes for 18-inch Dolls (MSRP $10.00) introduced in Fall 2018 as part of the Mix & Match Collection.
(c) 2018 American Girl (Fair Use Product Image)
American Girl® Pretty City Shoes for 18-inch Dolls
REVIEW: Love the hot pink color on these little shoes! They are well-made overall. Solid soles and nicely shaped for the dolls foot.

The little (fixed) tied bows at the ends of the shoestrings (ribbons) add a bit of pop and a slight color variation or highlight. (Depending on the age of a child playing with these shoes, a curious mind might attempt to untie the bows.) Nicely detailed.

A sassy little shoe that can be both casual or dressy depending on with what else it's paired. Did I mention it's hot pink?

American Girl #18inchDolls Mix & Match Collection: Bright Lights Flats (2018) #ToyReviews! #ToyDesign

PRODUCT: American Girl® Bright Lights Flats for 18-inch Dolls (MSRP $10.00) introduced in Fall 2018 as part of the Mix & Match Collection.
(c) 2018 American Girl (Fair Use Product Image)
American Girl® Bright Lights Flats for 18-inch Dolls
REVIEW: These little flats are well-made overall. Solid soles and nicely shaped for the dolls foot. The cut of the shoe looks a bit odd angled out-of-the-box, but looks snazzy on the doll.

My one concern (for play durability for a child) is the black ankle loop. It's attached by a small notch loop at the back of the shoe and I could see this detaching/breaking over time if played with extensively. (This is not as much of a concern for me personally as I don't "play" with my toys, but merely stage still scenes.)

Unlike many glittery items, where most of the glitter eventually flakes off, a nice touch in the design is a durable plastic "glaze" layer over the glitter on the shoes. The shoes are still sparkly, but will definitely hold up better.

A nice little shoe that can add a bit of sparkle to a casual outfit or top off a dressier one.

Virtual Shopping @American_Girl Orlando Store: New Mix & Match Collection Shoes + #AGRewards Holiday Passport? #Promotions

My doll collecting sister visited Orlando recently on vacation and went to the American Girl® store located there. Having only visited the Atlanta store prior to this, we'd curiously wondered if all AG stores were a generic rubber stamped concept or if each store was unique. Turns out the latter thought is closer to the truth (at least when comparing the Orlando & Atlanta locations). My sister said the Orlando store was bigger and seemed less "mall box" than the Atlanta one ---and the stock it carried seemed more varied, which makes sense as a bigger store would have more space for wares.

In the hope that Orlando would have things on the shelf that Atlanta does not, I'd planned ahead and given my $10.00 AG Rewards Certificate to my sister in order for her to get me something cool. She called me to confer while inside the Orlando store and I ended up getting two adorable pairs of new shoes just introduced (Fall 2018) as part of the AG Mix & Match Collection. Regularly priced at $10.00/ea (pair), but 15% off on sale when buying 2 or more items. The sale price total was $17.46 which came down to $7.46 after my AG Rewards Certificate was applied. Not bad for two pairs of adorable little shoes.

Bright Lights Flats for 18-inch Dolls
I got the Bright Lights Flats for 18-inch Dolls and the Pretty City Shoes for 18-inch Dolls. Both pairs are well-made cute designs with nice colors. Great additions to my Dolls Shoe Closet. The toy reviews are up next... (By the way, I also wrote quickie reviews for the AG website since AG is running a "Write a Review" contest for October.)

Pretty City Shoes for 18-inch Dolls
Yesterday, I noticed that this in-store purchase has now officially logged under my AG account, though there's an error when one tries to [View Details] of the order. As the purchase was made in October, it should qualify for the AG Rewards Holiday Passport promotion which was announced as a celebration of the new AG Rewards updates. Hopefully, I'll get an AG Rewards Holiday Passport in the mail soon. Can't wait to see what all is included/referenced inside. It should be a neat little souvenir, regardless.

eBay Luv! New Coupon = More Freebie #Toys: #14inchDolls WellieWishers Sneakers + #DIY Dolls Foosball Table Project

To promote its newly introduced in-house payment system since it separated from Paypal, eBay released a $5.00 coupon code that was only good on purchases from vendors accepting payments via its new system. The coupon code was supposed to be valid for three days (Oct 3-5), but got yanked (expired) early for some unknown reason. While eBay Customer Service couldn't give a specifics as to why the code was pulled (CS received documentation saying the code had been deactivated by not why it was), I was given a unique $5.00 coupon code in apology/replacement that was good for two weeks.

So I went shopping and found some cute little items that I could get for free, of course! I picked up "2018 handmade fashion canvas shoes for 14.5" WellieWishers Doll m120 SHOES FOR BJD DOLLS" which was listed with a $2.00 Buy It Now price.
(c) 2018 eBay Vendor Image
14.5" Dolls Sneakers
And a "Mini Table Top Football Table Football Foosball Board Machine Home Game Toy Gift" which was listed with a $3.02 Buy It Now price.
(c) 2018 eBay Vendor Image
Tabletop Foosball Game (~5"x8")
Both items included free shipping (from China), so the order total was $5.02. After applying my nifty replacement coupon, the outstanding balance was merely $0.02 which I covered using my eBay Bucks balance. (Interestingly enough, I've managed to earn a few cents back in eBay Bucks generated entirely from my freebie orders.) The result is two cute items picked up totally free!

The 14.5" Dolls Sneakers are for my doll collecting sister's WellieWishers Doll. My sister had recently complained that AG doesn't really make shoes available for the WellieWishers as a separate purchase, only as part of an outfit, and she wanted shoes (just shoes). The little red sneakers look adorable based upon the vendor provided image, so I thought my sister would like them.

I selected the tabletop Foosball Game for a DIY Doll Project which I've been envisioning (a Game Room). I plan to construct a table bottom/legs for it to make it free-standing ---and thus a doll-sized Foosball Table. It should work based upon the specs the vendor gave, but obviously I'll know for certain once it gets here. I felt it was worth a chance as it's a freebie item and if the dimensions don't work well (scale-wise) for an AG Doll, I can always just play with it as a novelty toy for myself.

So it's all good! Thanks, eBay for honoring the coupon by giving me a replacement code.

Sneak Peaks & Leaks: #AmericanGirl GOTY 2019 Blaire Wilson #Americana #Heartland #Midwestern #FarmGirl

As I am still fairly new to this doll collecting hobby as an adult, I'm playing catching up on news and notes and learning where to get the best inside information. (I hope this blog becomes a good resource for everything doll collecting hobby related.) So I've subscribed to a few newsletters from makers and small businesses, etc. to keep my hand in the game. I'm not on my doll collecting sister's level of keeping up with every nuance... yet. But I do poke around and try to have an eye on what's happening in the doll toy industry.

The day before yesterday, while reading the latest Lee & Pearl newsletter --- these gals are DIYers after my luv-to-mod heart --- I noticed this little bon mot: "But since we saw the recent leaks of potential American Girl® Girl of the Year 2019 Blaire Wilson and her farm-and-garden themed accessories we've been tempted to try one next in robin's egg blue or soft green to match her color scheme." (When I emailed my doll collecting sister, she responded with something like "Oh yeah, I saw those leaks weeks ago." Of course...) Well, this was news to me. Thanks for sharing!

Anyhow, the leaks (for the benefit of anyone who hasn't peeped these yet) consist of some images of accessories and pets for what is presumed to be the American Girl® Girl of the Year (GOTY) 2019 Doll, named Blaire Wilson according to the associated text on the images. Based upon the color scheme of the items (mainly blue/green), the Anglo-sounding name of the doll, the pets (a pig and a lamb) and the accessories (party planning sheets, tablet computer etc.), the general consensus seems to be that the doll will be a "Midwestern Farm Girl" (country theme) who works as a "Party Planner".

Whether these images were merely of late-stage ideas or decided upon product, only time will tell. It will definitely be interesting to see what actually pans out over the next few months before the new American Girl® GOTY 2019 is officially introduced. Nice to see American Girl® is working to re-invigorate the brand (if the AG Rewards program updates and these potential new toys are anything to go by).

New @American_Girl #AGRewards Perks Announced!

Got the email with an outline of the new American Girl® AG Rewards program perks (an update about which AG has been hinting for a while now). Some interesting moves on the brand's part. Overall I like what their trying to do, which seems to be making the program more responsive to active fanatic customers --- though I'm only an occasional customer myself --- but also to say we appreciate all our (children) fans. I still rue that AG is mostly ignoring adult collectors of dolls/toys, but it's their loss. I haven't read the entire Terms & Conditions update as yet, but did read the highlights pointed out in the email. I also downloaded the updated T&C to read in-depth later.
